I had a Highlander in Atlanta a couple of weeks ago. It's certainly superior to a Trailblazer or Explorer for all practical rental uses since one can't tow or go off-road per contract.
As far as handling goes, the roll center is very high which gives some odd sensations, and the steering very light, requiring lots of little corrections to maintain the lane on the freeway.
