What are "bag drop locations"? I fly out of IAD and SFO quite a bit. Never knew someone would just take my bag without checking me in.

One other question - what happens if I try to board with my luggage and there is no room. Is someone going to have a credit card reader on the plane before they put my bag in the hold?
