I had a few rudish encounters of the third kind in BOS. But I do think that it makes sense to segregate passengers into those who have a chance to be in the flight from others when time comes at a premium.

I wish SFO would do that whenever they bungle a connection of mine. I much prefer rude over dumb over slow.
