I agree with you and christep. OP is likely to have a run-in with the size checkers when during the transfer process.

Wheels on luggage seems to be the first feature that arouses their suspicion, and if your luggage then looks like it won't fit the gauge, they'll pounce. A tag from some non-BAA airport isn't going to matter.
