Well, the legislature just acted today. Newspapers, not being wire services, spend more time developing a narrative to the story and thus take longer to publish something. AP just sends out a quick 'n' dirty who, what, when, where and not much why. They leave the rest of the why for the local AP affiliate to flesh out.

And the Arizona Republic has done just that. This, for your reading pleasured, moved about 50 minutes ago across google news: Ariz. Legislature kills Real ID; critics point to hefty costs.
