This is terrible news. I wasn't going to make 1K, so it doesn't directly affect me. But it just encourages AA to water down their VIPOWs some more next year.

And since I'm flying AA long-haul and UA short haul, I'll be fighting with all the soon to be comped UA fliers for my upgrades on American!
