Thanks for all your feedback. I really appreciate it. Here is an update.

I'm waiting to receive the Smashbox starter kit ordered from Smashbox to get the primer that was recommended here, and some eyebrow stuff with wax and a brush, and a few other goodies. (BTW Costco has a fairly comprehensive Smashbox kit but I didn't have time to check it out.)

Also purchased the Costco version of bare minerals on on Sunday. Not the online Colorstay product, but something instore called FreshMinerals (freshmineralsusa.com). So far liking it but not sure if it's really there. Rather like the Emperor's new clothes.

Good things:
1. Brushes (3) were worth the $29.00
2. I don't itch or break out using it and it doesn't irritate my eyes.
3. The dark eyeshadow shade is very nice, and goes on well without looking weird, and is something I can actually get close to the lashline.
4. Stuff is very fine and light, although I don't like the puffs that are included with the finish powder and attached to the lid of the foundation. Mineral stuff makes my Almay loose powder seem very heavy, opaque and thick.
5. It feels like nothing's there and it doesn't rub off on clothing
6. I mistakenly put the silvery eye shadow on my cheeks and thought it looked glowy and cool. Probably not.
7. Jar lids are a very attractive shiny dark brown.

Not so good:
1. The Bahama bronzer looks bad on me. Upleasant yellow-brown on skin although it's pinkish-bown in the jar. Pinkish blush seems better, or perhaps that's oldschool and just what I'm familiar with.
2. Using the foundation with water and the concealer brush doesn't conceal even the faintest discolored spot.
3. I'm used to loose powder, just not dealing with 5 jars of it at a time.
4. I'm not sure there is anything there. I do one side of the face and can't exactly tell any difference from the undone side. For now I'm telling myself that is the way it should be.
5. It might be a case of the Emperor's new clothes.
6. The 4-minute instructional DVD didn't use the swirl and tap of BE, but just said dip it lightly and stroke it on. I think they were swirling on the face. DVD is worthless.

I would not recommend the Costco product unless you are shopping for a super discounted non-upgradable fare.

Some have mentioned you have to know how to apply the mineral makeup and that it takes time. Any tips?
