When the whole 3-1-1 thing started, I had friends and fellow travellers tell me about how they had toiletries taken away from them by TSA that were obviously less than 3 oz, but were not in clearly marked containers. In other words, if something was in an unmarked clear plastic bottle (like you can get at the drugstore in a travel kit), it was fair game to be taken away. I haven't heard of any such thing happening lately, and I was wondering if perhaps I am finally safe to bring decants of my favorite toiletries in my trusty clear (3 oz) bottles from the drugstore without fear of having them taken away. It gets expensive purchasing "travel size" items, and not all my favorite products are even available in travel sizes.

Has anyone had any toiletries that were clearly less than 3.4 oz taken away from them recently because they were not in their original container?
