What you're saying is analagous to buying 3 loaves of bread when you needed 4. You realized this once you returned home, so you go back to the store and asking them that you're willing to pay for the extra loaf, but asking them to pony up the gas cost that you used to drive back to the store.

How soon do you need the miles by? If you have time, there are other efficient ways to earn miles than buying them. I recommend the Dining program or AA eshopping you earn miles for what you normally do and they add up quickly.
