I looked into a Delta Vacation package once, a long time ago (over 10 years ago), and haven't since then. At the time, the air tickets earned no mileage, and couldn't be upgraded with mileage or certificates. Further, it was impossible to break the package and arrange the air separately (say redeeming miles to get air on your own).
