Flt 1014 on 6/8 SEA/ORD - 10 hours to ORD?

Yesterday, I was a very lucky traveler. I was scheduled YKM/SEA/ORD/DFW. Flight 1014 from SEA/ORD had to add fuel because of weather in ORD, and because of weight restrictions I was able to negotiate a $300 voucher, original routing credit, and first class on the direct flight from SEA/DFW instead. However, my bag still went on my original routing.

According to Gates and Times on AA.com, flight 1014 from SEA to ORD took off at 3:45 pm (which I saw) on June 8, but did not land until 3:27 am today, June 9. Needless to say, my luggage is lost.

As I said at the beginning, considering the circumstances I think I was very lucky. Other than showing up at 1:30 am to try to get my luggage at DFW and having to file a lost luggage report, this was a lot better than that 10 hour flight from Seattle to Chicago must have been.

Does anyone know what happened to delay the flight for that long? I am guessing they landed at some other airport for several hours. Just curious.

Thanks!
