OK, I figured it out the issue regarding how to receive Hotmail in my "Messaging" section on the XV6900. I am pretty sure that this fix applies to all of the phones Verizon is selling with
Windows Mobile 6 Professional and not just my model.
For some reason Pocket MSN was not part of the software installed on the phone by the geniuses at Verizon although it was part of
Windows Mobile 5.0.
I found out about the fix when I finally read about it on the xda-developers website. Here is the link to the thread discussing the problem.

You have to register for the site and then download the
Pocket MSN cab. The minute I installed it on the XV6900 I was able to download all of the folders in my Hotmail account and they appeared in the Messaging section of the phone. I won't have to deal with using Internet Explorer, going to the Windows Live site and logging into my Hotmail account any longer. ^
