I tend to agree. AA has been doing very limited cuts on "walk-ups" as opposed to the hub-wide cuts United instituted at ORD and DEN.
AA looks to be hoping that if UA goes under (and Star Alliance, with it), they can then return to the "good old days" of a dozen very high business fare seats subsidizing the rest of the plane. If SA collapses, American will reap the benefits as they become the main "people mover" within the US to OneWorld gateway cities.
