Here's the flip side. I'm at JFK now to fly JFK-LAX-PDX on 23/6065 out of JFK at 8:30. When I booked the itin, the LAX-PDX segment wasn't available for upgrade with the cert I used for the rest of the itin, so I bought it in F for an extra ~$200. Yesterday, trying to book in electronically, the system would let me do it. I called the 1K 800 number and got a woman who told me my problem was that "your upgrade has cleared, sir."
I told her that shouldn't exclude my ability to check in electronically, and she expressed surprise, telling me again that on the first leg I only had a discounted Y fare, and was upgraded with a cert, and that must be why and I should just wait until I get to the airport.
I hung up, redialed, and the next person tracked it down - the LAX-PDX segment has gone from a CRJ with an F configuration to one without. She's mailing me a coupon for the cash, and cleared my itinerary so I could board. What a contrast in service from the folks on the phone!
Anyhow, flying coach LAX-PDX, but at least nobody messed with my C seat JFK-LAX.
Anybody know how often these 2-class of service CRJs on the PDX-LAX route are changed out for single class of service?
