If using the Quik-Trak machines the traveler can pick up the tickets at the station (AGR account holder does not have to be there). I recall that they can link the traveler's credit card to the ticket to enable this (though all you really need, as far as I remember, is the confirmation number).

I think you can also pick them up from a staffed counter. I think this also works if picking up from a different station. Ask an AGR phone rep. Request it as if you know it can be done; don't ask if it can be done.

Mrs. ralfp used to gift AGR tickets to friends & family (in case an AGR rep is reading: give away, not sell). She never had problems with this, though it's been almost a year since she did this.

AFAIK you can combine Starwood points (same address restriction, check the Starwood forum) and then xfer to Amtrak.
