Unfortunately, the cost will be somewhat higher than that each month. A hotel would need a decent switch/router for a wired solution, and then a CAT5 run to each room. This would run into £1000s in setup.

Even a wirless solution would need several repeaters on each floor and then wiring back to a central point. Being a business they'd be looking at a minimum of several hundered a month in rental of an internet circuit, coupled with initial high setup costs, and on-going maintenance to a 3rd party.

The costs can easily spiral.

That said, I'm with you on the £20 per day rip off charges. Surely a fair charge would create more revenue long term? I believe that hotels (in EU and AP anyway) charge such high figures as they know during the week most of their guests are there on business, and it's easy to add another £10-20 to your room for internet.
