Loved AVG V7.5...After quite a bit of research, I decided to download V8 and fix the slowing problems with a workaround....
Basically, download V8, refusing the 'Toolbar' at the install stage, (by unchecking the box) Run the program, then deselect the LinkScanner option in the 'Overview' window- Voila...as fast as 7.5.
So far no issues.
