One other thought for you: if you aren't precious about carrying over you accrued spend to the new card, you might want to apply for the PP in your partner's name (assuming from you last post this is relevant to you).

If you go through this link http://www.americanexpress.com/uk/mg...lt.cgi?page=CM you get 2k miles for referring them and they get up to 10k if they spend £3000 in the first two months. That goes some way to offset the £150 fee.

You also keep your card so if you can reach £20k before your year is up that's the only way to get two 241s.
