Not sure ALL hot meals are to be replaced by snacks on ALL UA flights except transcons. Wasn't it to be for flights less than three hours, only (ORD-SAN is certainly over that)? What I also understood is that ALL meal service in Buisiness and First now comes to a halt if outside the normal meal hours. Even a snack on those will be missed.
