I've never thought of the Oakland terminal as worn out. My biggest complaint has been the small restrooms. Nearly everytime, I have a minor collision with someone entering or exiting the restrooms. They have this funky curved entrance that is narrow and there is isn't much room to get by. Once inside, the restrooms are cramped as well.

You didn't mention the status of the Round Table Pizza place. I frequent it a lot and would hate to see it go.

OAK is my primary Bay Area airport and it always works well for me. They have one of those new security lines that are labeled for "Expert Flyers". As they don't have an elite line, perhaps this will help.
