With all due respect, for anyone to have any expectations of decent food service on a domestic flight, especially on a route like DAY-DFW, is unreasonable. Would the OP be better off if s/he had been offered the short ribs or tortellini that is the current choice on most midcons? I've tried both recently, and both were virtually inedible. And although breakfast usually is my preferred meal on AA, I had an omelet recently on an SFO-ORD flight that was inedible.
