Uh, shall I ask for advice on what to do now?

The hotel's situation seems to have changed, since they now have regular res available at $80/night less than the special event rate that I booked. I booked one, and have until 6PM on day of checkin to cancel. I plan to check in very early in the day - 10AM or so.

Should I call central res to see if I can cancel the existing res, or at least change it to the new rate? I still plan to stay at the hotel the same days, I would just prefer to stay at the new rates.
