I've not had a chance to try it with UAL. However one thing I found with AA's when trying to get on the standby list for an earlier flight was that since the flights before mine which potentially could have worked were full already, it told me that "no flights are available for standby." I'm not sure if this is the same for the software at UA ECI, but I look forward to hearing everyone's experiences!
