Wasn't me, but someone else (whose seat in J I got) lost his passport somewhere during transit. Stuck in Paris, AF wouldn't let him board for the US (home for him, he said, a US citizen I guess.)

What can you do? I thought airlines *could* give you temporary papers on which to travel?
