Last time I was there I stayed in Mirador, 14th floor I think. Pretty good place that had a wing of a floor...very small room but window, TV, air con, private bath, etc., at around $30. Have stayed in YMCA Salisbury before and it's nice, but they went over my budget at $70 and northward (after a remodel, I believe). The big knock on CKM in the guidebooks was having to wait in line for the elevators, which didn't sound like fun. I think the fundamental problem is that everyone tends their little patch of it, but no one's really responsible for or looking after common areas, and the idea of dumped trash in stairwells attracting rats or what not, or the place being a firetrap, didn't sound so great. Mirador was not immune from all this but just seemed to have less of it (less scale).

BTW, MACAU seemed to be a harder nut to crack on the budget side. Maybe all the new casino rooms will create some opportunity outside of weekends.
