When you return from overseas you clear Customs at one point -at the port\point of entry-. Imagine if you are required to go through customs every time you cross one state to go to another. That will be a nightmare.
IMHO The same logic can be applied here.
You should be required to go through security checkpoint only one time to reach the boarding areas.
