We went to Sydney and Ko Samui for our honeymoon. It was the second time that I had been to Samui, and it had lost none of its charm.

Its a good hotel. We booked and it was #4 on the island, but it has dropped significantly since then. We spoke to the (new) Manager when we were there who explained why the hotel had dropped - it was great to hear his plans to get it back into the top 5 because it has a great pool, fantastic location, some beautiful rooms (go for the upgraded rooms as they are closer to the beach), a good spa and friendly staff.

Chaweng itself is very commercialised, though less so than many other Thai beach resorts. There isn't a lot of choice when it comes to gay nightlife but we weren't really looking for that anyway.

Full Moon party is awesome - just go with a reputable operator. When I went, I was backpacking and just went with the cheapest, which in hidsight was a deathtrap.. no lifejackets and an overloaded speedboat.

On a sidenote, Samui should be slightly easier to get to now with the new TG flights from BKK twice a day. Go with Bangkok Airways if you can though.. they are really great.
