I was at the AKL airport in the NZ lounge back in January and saw one of the splitters with an open outlet available. I went to plug my laptop into it and then realized that an entire family was using it, each with their own laptops. After talking to them, it turned out that they traveled with one since they were always having trouble finding enough outlets. I thought that was pretty smart.
