I wouldn't have a qualm flying on TACA. Of course there are unsafe airlines out there, however, TACA is not one of them.

Like it has been said many time, this airport is extremely challenging and really was an accident waiting to happen. As the Salon report says, a C130 overshot the runway by 200 yards in 1997 and that is a plane designed to land on short runways, so for it to be as accident free for as long as it has really is a testament to the pilots that fly in and out of there every day.

Moving operations to the military base is a good idea and will prevent a worse accident from occurring.
