I am thinking of doing the same... leaving my luggage (one rollaboard) at the FL for 5-6 hours while taking my son into Chicago so he is properly tired for the flight to Europe that night.

I understand AA or the FL is not liable at all, but would you just leave it there or tell the staff with the risk of them telling you to take it with you "for security purposes"?
