Transport Canada has reclassified two incidents at Vancouver airport Tuesday that required planes to abort landings because another aircraft was on the runway.
Initially, both occurrences were classified on Transport Canada's daily log reports as "loss of separation" events, which means two or more planes got closer to each other than allowed by federal regulations.
The Vancouver Sun reported Thursday that it was unusual for there to be two of these incidents at the same airport in one day.
However, Transport Canada now says it made "an error" on its website by referring to these incidents as "loss of separation," said Ron Singer, media relations manager for NAV Canada, a private Ottawa-based company that operates Canada's civil air navigation service.
Singer said Friday that the Transport Canada website has now been changed and these incidents have been reclassified as ones with only "conflict potential."
