As you all may be aware that the SpiritAir website has been down for upgrades, the website is still officially down, but there is a way of reaching it (
http://www.spiritair.com/welcome.aspx). What is interesting is that without notifying anyone they started charging yet
another add-on charge.
From Now and on the only way to pick your seat prior to online check-in (24 hours) is by paying $10 for an aisle or window seat, and $5 for a middle seat. This doesn't seem to apply to those who have already selected their seats. I have already selected my seats prior to this new thing.

For some reason I am not surprised. I am trying to figure out who is going to follow suit.
After all, in the recent two years SPIRITAIR has been the leader of the airline industry, and some of their ideas were already implemented by the so-called "legacy" carriers. To name a few:
1) Start charging for a SECOND bag (Everyone followed)
2) Start charging for a FIRST bag (American followed)
3) Downgrade the FIRST-CLASS service (US Air followed)
4) Outsource customer service to India (United followed)
5) Skip maintenance of the planes (followed by almost Everyone)
6) Get only miles flown, no minimum (US Air and United followed)
