, yeah but head up to Hampton Beach or Maine and even in the summer the water is not much over 60. The classic line as your feet are turning purple "oh, you should have been here yeserday. The water was much warmer." Yeah, a whopping 63. Still if you want to body surf, you suck it up.

Sitting on Skaket Beach watching the flash as the Air Force dropped practice bombs on some old ship in the middle of the bay and waiting for the boom. A new frisbee every year. 4th of July block party in Wellfleet. A hamburger on the screen porch followed by the Red Sox on a transistor radio and a game of Parcheesi until it got too dark to see the board.

I'd buy the ticket right now if I knew how to get there.
Nice, really nice. ^ Thompsons of Harwichport on the harbor. Check this out for a memory http://odeo.com/audio/44481/view and if Dad had any money left on Friday night, it was the go carts and trampolines just up the road from Thompson at the RT 28 Y. Days of sailing the sunfish on Long Pond and sinking it in the middle and then struggling with your brother to get the sail back in to shore. An A&W rootbeer in Harwich was a must and the big meal was dinner at the Orleans Inn. You had to put your madrass shirt and chinos on to be church presentable.

In later years, it was John Morgan at Pufferbellies, the Improper Bostonian, or the Mill Hill Club and sleeping in rest areas on Rt 6 until one of Massachusetts' finest kicked you out at 6 am and you dragged yourself off to find greasy breakfast somewhere thinking - Hey neighbor, have a Gansett.
