Whatever you decide, if you're going to the Cape or the Vineyard this soon book right away. Lodging in the summer on the Cape has traditionally been tight, but with the gas situation this year you never know...crowds may be down.
I can remember counting license plates in the parking lot at Nauset and coming up with 35 different states and provinces. It really does draw from a large area. You're right, with gas at current prices, it may be a slow year. OTOH, locals may be drawn there instead of the road trip they might have planned otherwise.
