Athens for single traveler?

Have never been to Greece but have a 5 night stay at the Grand Bretagne booked over a year and a half ago coming up (at less than half the current going *points rate). With the serious GF no longer in the picture, I am weighing the idea of going alone vs. cancelling. I have traveled alone before (9 nights in Scandinavia a few years ago) and while I enjoy the freedom, some places seem more lonely than others. So, if other have been by themselves, how was the vibe when you ate/drank/toured alone?

The mileage redemption for an award ticket has even lined itself up so this is basically a fully free trip on points and miles if I go....
