Thank you for the replies, everyone. I spent some more time researching Dubai before finally buying my ticket. There are a couple of useful sites I found

I eventually concluded that a 6h stopover would be far too stressful and ended up deciding to spend more and stop over for 3 days instead.

From what I have read it sounds like you have to plan your movements around Dubai with military precision coz the traffic is nightmarish. Is that really the case?
