Hmm, I seemed to have somehow missed any results or indication you searched or acquired any specifics from an AF, other than your own speculation (according to your posted definition.)
Perhaps you could post the results of that search and enlighten us? That might add some solidity to this thread and its speculation about some FAs not receiving pay whils on the ground, or as someone else has pointed out, perhaps receiving a small token pay whilst on the ground.

Under your "recollection," a FA could show up for a work assignment in uniform, sign in, preboard a flight, experience a mechanical, endure a couple of hours of a "decision" process, suffer a cancellation and then go home - all without earning a cent. Under Federal labor laws, that seems unlikely.
Perhaps an actual FA can replace speculation with some facts.
