1) I personnally find that as you get closer to the date alot more seats open up, especially in F and J so the best thing to do is probably book what you can now and then at a date closer to your departure check again and pay the 20 pound change fee if anything better comes up.

2) With DC miles it is a much better use of the miles to spend them on long-haul. If you want a stopover in another asian country then just add it to your itinery for no extra cost. But do not spend them on little hops around SE asia as it will drain miles and also price of J tickets around that area is rather cheap anyway (e.g BKK-HKT is about £60 in TG's new long-haul J including taxes!!)

3) No those taxes are deffinately wrong. To give you an idea of how wrong they are I booked HKG-BKK-SIN-LHR-CPH in F recently and the total taxes added up to £107! £270 is ridiculous
