I have no idea about MID (which I had to look up, its on the Yucatan peninsula for the rest of us) but I travel monthly from TLC (Toluca International) which is about 40 minutes outside Mexico City.
It is a small airport but relatively busy both domestically and internationally and it is also the primary general aviation FBO as it is very conveniently located near Mexico City and much much smaller and easier to traverse - if you have to travel to Mexico City and are flexible TLC is the much better airport to travel from/to.
Anyway, the point being even though it is a busy airport I usually arrive at the airport not more than 90 minutes ahead of time.
However, the only flight to/from the US is an CO2160/2765 which is an RJ - not a plane 3 times the size - and that probably makes a big difference.
Mexico being Mexico - for the first trip out of anywhere I would arrive two hours ahead of time at least - elite access or no. Once you get past check-in Mexico doesnt really care about "elite status" at the gates or passport control.
