There is a dumpy cheap VN place on 6th (a few doors down from Market), called Tu Lan. Don't let the 'hood scare you. Several dishes are outstanding (their imperial rolls, lemon beef salad (or chicken salad), grilled things - stay away from the very sauced dishes. Cash only. A dive. If you like asian foods, you should like this.
