Indeed, Alaska's unique 3-2 configuration in Economy on the MD-80s can be considered the last visible throwback of Alaska's once-premium meal service. Most operators of the MD-80 series configure their aircraft 2-3, but Alaska specifically requested the configuration to allow for a larger aft galley to support their service.
Indeed, the DL MD-88 is the only other DC-9/MD-80 I'm aware of with that 3-2 configuration.
