I figured out why YUL is so damn slow.....

As I was awaiting a mechanical issue on Thursday evening (AC439), an AC flight pulls into the gate next to us. The luggage trolly pulls up, and two people hop out. One goes into the belly of the plane, the other was at the bottom of the conveyor belt sorting baggage based on destination (I'm assuming here) and placing in the different carts of the trolly.

Well low and behold every time he had to go to the back of the trolly, the entire operation would have to stop or else the conveyor would just dump all the bags onto the ground because there wasn't anyone there to catch them. It took damn near 40 minutes to empty the plane (so anyone who disembarked the plane would have waited about 25 minutes at baggage claim since it's quite the hike from gate to baggage at YUL with NO moving walkways!)

Throw an extra body on there AC....the faster you can turn planes around, the less fuel you waste idling!

On a great note though, my priority tagged bags were the 3rd off the line at YUL, so I must have gotten lucky!
