OK. I haven't been back in 25 years and frankly, I was disappointed. I spent 2-3 weeks on the Cape every summer of my childhood and it ain't what it once was. Nothin' you can do about that. However, do yourself a favor and get past the congestion of Hyannis. Orleans, Welfleet, Truro - there may still be unspoiled parts. The time to go is after Labor Day when the crowds abate because children return to school.
Still, if I had access to a time machine ....
Ah, when you could get up in the morning with nothing to do but ride a bike to the neighborhood store where you tried to find a new wiffle ball to replace the one that got taken out to sea yesterday. The Cape is about family - maybe early golf, several hours at the beach (today it is with SPF 45, then it was with baby oil), home for a nice happy hour and conversation on the adirondack chairs and a bit of reading or walking, then either off to dinner or a bbq, followed by listening to the Red Sox with Curt Gowdy, Ned Martin, or Ken Coleman announcing, and a game of Scrabble or Scat.
