Delta airlines do offer 1-stop tix via ATL in same price range. You already have some DL miles. How about earning some more, and going with an award ticket? Your thoughts?

Or, there is a fantastic promo started yesterday by NWA: you can earn close to 50,000 miles per person by doing some shopping, dining and playing games online, now thru 7/31/8. Get all of your passengers to play, and maybe do some other things, and you will have enough miles for award tix for all travellers. You can use NWA miles to book awards on DL flights.

For money tickets: you should look into using some discount coupons.

Have you seen 2008 edition of entertainment books with AA coupons?
5% off fares cpn = minimum $34.40 per AA ticket savings, it expires 12/31/08.

2009 edition of e-book will be avail. mid-July, and it should have new 5% cpn. Perhaps not AA, but it is something to keep in mind.

There is also 10% off vacations (fare plus hotel) cpn in e-book for "bookings" made by 12/31/08, you might be able to use it for Feb 09 trip!
We would LOVE to be able to use our Delta airmiles for this trip, but I have had zero luck in trying to turn those points into an award ticket. I have had agents on the phone for nearly 45 minutes only to end up saying, "I'm really sorry...I can't find anything for you on an award." I've been incredibly flexible with the dates and times, heck, even the destination. I've tried 330 days out, it is just ridiculous. I know others have had great luck with it, but mine has not been so great. I also realize that February is a very high season but that is when we go.

I will definitely use the Entertainment Coupon....I have that book and have had that book for the last 18 years.

Great information...I think we'll just stay in Barbardos for the entire time. We are staying at the Hilton mostly, but I may have to find another place to stay a few days as they no longer allow you to book an award unless you have the entire amount of points required in your account (a change from last year...not sure if it gets closer if I will be able to amend the reservation from what it was originally book as, but I have enough for 8 nights as it stands today).

Realizing this is OT, does anyone know a decent place to stay that is not as costly as the Hilton? Sorry to hear about your D-U-M-P experience JDIVER...I really don't want to have that experience.
