Well i now have a point of comparison with the Sheraton Reston right next door (that shares both ownership AND employees, fwiw):
The Westin is obviously newer and the bar is more chic and the restaurant more modern.
The Sheraton has more facilities, meeting space and a convenience store corner in the lobby.
In terms of rooms, the Westin has (obviously) the HB and HS head and the rooms are newer. But the Sheraton (I have only stayed in standard rooms) has slightly larger rooms. The TVs and video offerings are practically identical.
All in all it's a bit of a push but if I had to choose between these two hotels I'd do it on price first, then lean toward the Westin just for the newerness and the heavenlyness.
