I can't tell you if it's worth it or not TO YOU, but TO ME I think it's just another way of ripping you off. I've had my Sky- box for nearly 3 years now and never bought the warranty. Never had an issue either. Of course, this has as much to do with it being a ripoff (in my view) as the fact that they kept calling my house for weeks to offer it to me (could never get me, Mrs. T-inuk always answered), and when they finally did get me, they went on the hard sell.
