Red, Green Lights at Check-in
:-::-::-::-::-:
I suggest that this is the idea of the month, or more. It's TheRoadie's idea in worth's current OAK New Boarding Pass Procedure? thread, but I feel it deserves stand-alone discussion. It's super, IMO:
Have a post at each check-in kiosk pair with a red and green light atop, and a number above each pair. Also a screen at the head of the queue, that gives the number of the newest open kiosk. [Think Fry's Electronics.]
In the long run, it could be a cost-saver for Southwest by reducing the number of line attendants. It would certainly make their job easier, and Customers' experience better. Of course, it's possible that it would be more expensive to install lights, but usually it's cheaper to go automated. It's consistent with the philosophy of installing the screens at the gates, and lights would be a lot cheaper. (Though a screen at the head of the queue seems an important component. Or even a big one like at the DMV. Could even include advertising. Oops sorry.)
To coin a phrase, "Sometimes the best idea is right in front of your face".
I hope SWABrian and the regulars here will like it and pass it along.
Thank you, TheRoadie. ^
