wine as carry on?
Because of the experience i am about to describe, I need some advice as to how many bottles of wine can be taken through security as carry on. On a recent trip through DIA, I decided to try to get an answer in anticipation of a cruise in May. After clearing security, I walked up to a security employee who was had a clip board. I asked if I could speak to a supervisor and he responded by asking me why do I want to speak to a supervisor. Several extremely amusing potential responses came to mind which if verbalized, would have not set the appropriate tone for the inquiry. Instead, utilizing the self control that is so well recognized among frequent flyers I indicated that I had a quesstion about the number of bottles of wine permitted through security. At this time we had been joined by a second "supervisor". In response to my question and within a micro second of one another one supervisor said three bottles and the next supervisor said six bottles. However, unlike normal human behavior, where the individuals would initially look at one another they both continued to look directly at me hoping and expecting that I would say or do something that would allow them to declare a major security breach. Again stifyling myself, I politely asked what the underlying regulation might be which could assist us in resolving this great debate. I was then informed that the regulation speaks in terms of "excessive" number of wine bottles. Of course at this point I was extremely dubious of the ability to ever receive a definitive answer to the wine riddle. I am hesistant to pack the wine because it is somewhat expensive Opus One, etc. I am sure most of you are familiar with what happens to luggage in the context of being transported onto a cruise ship.I am extremely proud of myself in that I did not use the adjective "moron" once during any of my conversations. However, I am not sure I can control myself in May if a similar experience happens again after having checked in only to find myslef in the clutches of airport security.
Any advice would be appreciated.
