I usually fly the SFO/NRT/HKG route. I made the upgrade all the way every time I traveled this routing. I flew this route five times this year. Most of the time, when I am upgrading with a SWU, I am upgraded at the time of ticketing. A few times, I had to waitlist for the NRT/HKG segment, as well as the HKG/NRT segment, but have always cleared both. The few times that I had tried the UA805 and UA806 flights, I would have had to be placed on the waitlist for the upgrade.
