NYC subway strike: it could affect your travel

I need to know if anyone else is thinking about what's going on in NYC this week. Subway and other workers are about to go out on strike. There will be monumental difficulty in getting to Manhattan to do business, go to theatre, whatever. And that's if it's possible at all.

Wife and I booked a holiday excursion on Dec 17 from SFO to JFK. It's traditional with us. We stay several days: do the town; shop; see the tree in Rockefeller; go to theatre. Various kids and other free-loafers appear out of the woodwork for free meals, etc. It's all in good fun. We always book the Plaza.

Well, as far as I can see, it's not going to happen. So, I'm probably going to have to bail. I'm on a full F fare with my PassPlus (refundable). I have kids coming in on use-it-or-lose-its. So their tickets and plans are in jeapordy.

Don't know what we'll do, but I suspect others are in the same boat. I would suggest anyone going to NYC this week check on refundability/cancell-ability of airline fare, if possible.

PS: the transit worker strike truly sucks
